Don’t put my photo on social media – Mum? MUM, I mean it Mum, you’re not to.
“I won’t Dom!” I was fibbing but silently trying to justify it due to it being National Sons Day, so I reasoned it was okay to post just a teensy bit.
I would have crossed my fingers behind my back except they were wrapped round my I-phone ready to grab a photo -or several.
You see, my golf obsessed boy played a county golf competition today.
Collecting him from the golf club this evening he had slid into the passenger seat looking quietly pleased and grasping a small black box.
“Well?”
“We won.”
Admiring his small glass trophy, I was as chuffed as Maureen Lipman on that old BT ‘you got an ology’ advert.
“Amazing Dominic well done that’s so so so so brilliant.”
“It wasn’t just me mum it was six of us in our team.”
Establishing they won out of sixteen clubs in the Thames Valley I continued my stream of praise.
“Doesn’t matter you’re still brilliant”
“What’s for dinner?”
“I need a photo.”
“No, I’m exhausted”
Managing to persuade my reluctant teen I snapped a few photos deleting the ones where he was rolling his eyeballs.
Well, I am undeniably proud.
Happy he won today of course, but mainly proud that I have somehow produced an awesome unassuming and very normal 6ft 1inch teenager against almost impossible odds.
Happy National Sons Day Dom.
[He's 3rd from right in white polo shirt!!]
